Automotodrom Grobnik
A legendary circuit carved into the hills above the Adriatic Sea
Built in 1978, Automotodrom Grobnik has hosted everything from Formula 3 to World Superbike. Nestled in the hills above Rijeka with stunning views of the Adriatic coast and Kvarner Bay, it's one of Europe's most scenic and challenging circuits.

Track History
Automotodrom Grobnik opened in 1978 as Yugoslavia's premier racing circuit. Located just 15 km from Rijeka, the circuit was built into the natural terrain of the Grobnik field, taking advantage of the rolling hills and elevation changes.
Over the decades, the circuit has hosted rounds of the European Formula 3 Championship, World Superbike Championship, European Touring Car Championship, and countless national series. It remains Croatia's most important permanent racing circuit.
The circuit is known for its demanding technical sections, particularly the fast sweepers through the middle sector and the elevation changes that test both car and driver. The proximity to the Adriatic coast means unpredictable weather can add an extra element to racing.
Key Corners
Turn 1 — "Ciljna Ravnina" Entry
The first braking zone at the end of the start/finish straight. A key overtaking spot where drivers arrive at top speed and must judge their braking point into the right-hander that begins the lap's technical western section.
Turns 7–8 — "Šikana" / "Lijevi u Rupu"
A technical chicane sequence at the lowest part of the circuit. The "Šikana" demands precision on entry, and "Lijevi u Rupu" (literally "left into the hole") drops into a dip that unsettles the car. A place where patience beats aggression.
Turns 15–16 — "Zagrebački 1. Dio" & "2. Dio"
The fast right-hand complex at the far eastern end of the circuit. Taken in quick succession at high speed, these turns reward commitment and a smooth driving style. The best overtaking setup on the lap — a strong exit from "Zagrebački 2. Dio" carries speed all the way back to the main straight.
Turn 5 — "Rijecki"
The tight hairpin at the top of the circuit and the slowest point on the lap. After climbing through Turns 3 and 4, drivers brake hard into this 180° turnaround. Getting back on the power early is critical as it feeds into the long downhill run through "Lijevi".
Turn 9 — "Lakat"
The "Elbow" — a tight corner at the bottom of the circuit that transitions from the technical section into the faster middle part of the track. A strong exit here sets up the run through "Desni" and onto the "Zagrebački" straight.
